Choose to Thrive

Hi Everyone!
I have always wanted to share my experiences of living with allergies, but for so many reasons have chosen not to. Until one day, I was cooking dinner after work and listening to the news in the background, when something caught my attention... The message included allergies. A doctor was explaining how children with allergies were more likely to be bullied, left out of social activities, and live with anxiety. Now you're probably thinking "yeah I can see that!". Well for me, this was a disappointing message to hear. I have lived most of my life with life threatening food allergies to dairy, peanuts, pork and beef. I was the kid that brought her own lunch to school, sat at the peanut free table, and never participated in the "cake cutting" at friends birthday parties. As an adult, I am the person that packs a cooler to go to a wedding, I make most of my desserts at home, and build up the courage to try new things that can accommodate my allergies.
I chose to thrive in life and find ways to participate in fun activities! Now don't get me wrong, I have had my fair share of ambulance rides, have had to teach my college roommates how to use an epi pen, or how to explain on your first date why " I cant kiss you because I saw you have butter!". I am here to try to change the negative stigma of having food allergies, and instead be something to embrace!
Stay tuned for... stories, advice, recipes and more!
